On the morning of the Hamas assault on Israel’s southern communities, Ran Gvili, was waiting to be operated on at the hospital.
According to accounts from friends and family, when Gvili heard what was happening down south, he left the hospital and went to help.
He was last heard from at 10:50 a.m. on October 7, when he texted his friends on WhatsApp and told them he had been shot twice in the leg.
A member of the Yasam patrol unit in police’s Negev district, he was killed during a battle against terrorists in the community of Alumim during the Hamas onslaught.
His body was abducted to Gaza.
